General Assembly, not to be missed

Hi,

The UUA General Assembly (the big gathering of UUs in the US) is in Portland, OR, June 24-28.

Portland is wonderful and easy to navigate.

Scholarships are available both from the UUA Youth and Young Adult Office AND from First UU San Diego.

EVERY DAY I have one of the church elders ask me if I have Young Adults going (yes, they think you are mine. J ).

GA is a fabulous experience—being in a large convention hall with 5000-7000 UUs with over the top wonderful music, the best preachers, the justice work, the Exhibit Hall, the workshops. It gives a bigger picture of who we are. There is a Young Adult Caucus so you’ll get to meet others who are engaged in their own congregations. There are also General Sessions where you get to see the work of the UUA (an association of all our churches) in action. You don’t have to go to all of these unless you are a delegate. But unless you are a delegate, you cannot vote nor speak at any of the general sessions. So if that may be important to you, consider being a delegate from our congregation.

 

Anyway, trust me. It’s amazing. And I’d love to be there to share it with you. But I won’t be all up in your business. Maybe we could get together for lunch, dinner or drinks one of the days. And you can always seek me out if you need to talk.
