Yesterday  I wrote about Damilola olokesusi  and The 4 billion dollars  lost to traffic  jam yearly  in .lagos.

Today  july 19th  2026 is a related  Editorial  of the ThisDay  newspaper nigeria  🇳🇬  of The Extortion  and Apapa traffic jam.

Why not take  the  problem  to the problem  solvers that is The Amazon  Damilola olokesusi  founder  of shuttlers  as I had advised  the organised private  sector  Yesterday.  I hope  it's nothing  to do with gender?
If you are losing 4 billion dollars  every year  do a cost  benefit  analysis . set aside  100 miliion  dollars  to 250.million dollars as venture capital  for start ups  working on  traffic  jam.

Two things  you can do institute prizes  worth 1 miliion  dollars  to 5 miliion  dollars  to any Nigerian who can come up with a workable  solution  to traffic  jam in apapa. Option  2?:turn to Damilola olokesusi  pay her  well for a good job.

The same approach  to the  problem   of waste  management  in lagos. Hand  out  prizes . please  see the  Rockeffeler  foundation  website on prizes  philanthropy.

Like  Francis  fukuyams has said  History  is about the struggle  for recognition. Recognition  drives History. Prizes  could  even be more powerful  than  research  grants. We can also give research grants  to the  Universities to come up with solution s to the 4 billion dollars  consuming traffic jam in Lagos.

There could  be collaboration  between  shuttlers  by Damilola olokesusi  and the  researchers. In out universities  and other research  institutions.

I would also  like  to. Mention  California. A sister state  to lagos
.  I learnt  many years  back  from the voice of  America  that in the traffic  jam in California  they  drove bumper to bumper. They said  it served  to unify the  American people!!

Extract from the  ThisDay newspaper nigeria Editorial  as follows:

For almost two decades, the access roads to the nation’s seaports—Tincan and Apapa—have been paralysed by container-bearing trucks, trailers and petroleum tankers’ drivers who pay scant attention to any regulations. With no holding bay for trucks and tankers, the drivers park and queue not only on th
