Senegal transition a win for West African democracy

 

In early 2024, Senegal’s democracy faced collapse but was saved by the constitutional court and civil society. Bassirou Diomaye Faye of the previously banned PASTEF party became president in April. NAI researchers highlight the regional significance of Senegal’s political transition.
