Tonight from 8-9PM at 72 ProRow we will share our PPP: "Phoenix Planning Progress". If you're going, remember to fill out this survey: http://goo.gl/PZicvQ
We will also talk about an upcoming event organized by UEP students, which we can co-sponsor along with UEP, the Office of Campus Planning, and the Office of Sustainability. The event is a design charrette for stakeholder engagement at the College Avenue/Boston Avenue intersection, which is where the Green Line Extension ("Green T") station will eventually be located. This intersection is being redesigned, and new buildings are also being planned in the area. We would help to host this event, reaching out to the public at our university in order to facilitate transportation demand management (TDM) and transit-oriented development (TOD) conversations on campus. The focus of the charrette would be to allow stakeholders to visually address concerns, ranging from safety issues to biking concerns, at the school's newest soon-to-be MBTA entrance. Participants will be able to draw on GIS maps and interact collaboratively with various stakeholders, ranging from other students, faculty, architects, planners, and administrators. Of course, the actual green tea will be included!
Also, a UEP event flyer for tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4, is attached. UEP is hosting an alumni panel discussion titled "Memories of Mayor Thomas Menino." Over the course of a 21 year long tenure, Mayor Thomas Menino oversaw and played a leading role in the City of Boston's growth and evolution. Join UEP at 12PM at Sophia Gordon Hall as they explore the history and legacy of his mayorship. Panelists include: May Louie, community activist and former long-time staff member at DSNI, and Kris Carter, Director of Programs in the Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics. Lunch will be provided.
