Hi all,
Welcome back to a new year with UP3, Tufts’s undergrad urban planning club. Our
GIM will be tomorrow (Tuesday, 9/22) at 9pm in the 72 Pro Row
conference room, which is in the white house directly to the right of Metcalf.
Whether you’re a new or returning member or just want to learn more about urban planning and see if it’s for you, stop by to hear about all of the exciting plans we have for this semester, including
guest speakers on topics from the revitalization of Somerville’s Union Square to transportation,
excursions (starting this weekend with a bike tour through Somerville),
trips to NYC and beyond, and, of course, our weekly discussions.
Our theme for this year is “The Century of the City” - we’ll be looking at the challenges and opportunities that we’ll be facing in the 21st century as a result of rapid urbanization in the developing world and the decline of the suburbs right
here at home. From massive rural-to-urban migrations to eco cities in the desert to gentrification in Somerville, urban issues are dominating the news - it’s an exciting time to get into urban planning.
