Hi all,
1) Join us tomorrow (Monday) at noon in Eaton 203 for a presentation on
Boston's Fairmount Corridor: Mobility, Investment, and Livability by Boston Redevelopment Authority planner Ted Schwartzberg.
He'll discuss
the Fairmount Indigo Planning Initiative, the BRA’s largest recent planning study. Improvements
to the Fairmount commuter rail line have significantly expanded transit options for environmental justice
communities located within the corridor, and the BRA simultaneously launched a planning process to pursue
improved access to jobs and affordable housing, increased investment for current and future businesses,
enhanced station accessibility, and increased livability of the neighborhoods as a whole.
Bring your questions! Read more about the Fairmount Line
here.
2) At our
weekly meeting this week (Tuesday 9pm 72 Pro Row), we'll be following up tomorrow's event with a film screening of
Equal or Better: The Story of the Silver Line , which talks about the city's failure to provide adequate transportation options to Dorchester and Roxbury while spending millions on suburban commuter
rail. This is exactly the issue that the Fairmount Line is meant to improve.
3) Finally,
this Saturday, 11/7, meet us at the upper CC at noon to head downtown for a
South Station History Tour. A great chance to learn more about the station we usually just pass through.
