IPG will be showing Can We Talk?, a short film produced by the Union of Minority Neoghborhoods' Busing and Desegregation Project featuring many residents' own thoughts on their experiences during school desegregation and the repercussions today. All are welcome to watch the film, share their views, and come grapple with important questions surrounding racism in the school system and community at large. Food will be provided.

John Barros was appointed Chief of Economic Development by Boston Mayor Marty Walsh in February 2014. In this newly created cabinet position, John focuses on fostering economic development in all of Boston's neighborhoods through marketing Boston on a national and international scale; ensuring access to employment, pathways to careers, and strong job growth; streamlining licensing and permitting processes; and supporting small businesses, particularly women- and minority-owned businesses. Raised in Roxbury, John was elected to the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative board at age 17. After obtaining his bachelors degree at Dartmouth and working at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies underwriting initial public offerings for dot-com startups, John returned to DSNI as Executive Director in 2000. He is currently on leave from UEP’s mid-career MPP program.
