Hey guys,

Great meeting tonight! Everyone is getting so involved and we talked about many new case-studies, concepts, and organizations tonight! As I say every week, we are making so much progress... every week!

It was nice to see a few new people tonight, but I don't have their e-mails on our list, so if you know their e-mails please let me know and I can add them here and to the FB group.

Here's a summary of what we accomplished tonight and what we have cooking for next week.

Officers:

Meeting Organizer: Rayn;
Point Person: Robert;
Publicist: Michelle (co: Max);
Researcher: Lucas (cos: Savannah, Betsy);
Programmer: Gabe (co: Rayn)

(If you weren't at our meeting tonight or you left early and you want to take part as an officer then FEEL FREE to let me know and you can be one if people vote you in -- I know a few had to leave early, like Parker).

Here's what we're working on for next week:

1. Researchers are working on organizing our first city outing! This is the next step towards settling on something in particular to explore and a Doodle will be sent out soon; probably sometime next weekend (+dinner!)

2. Point Person is working on TCU recognition and sending them our officer updates. Soon we'll be recognized, then get funding, and hopefully reach out to the UEP, IGL, etc.

3. Programmers are working on bringing Centner, Stanton, and Hollander to talk to us -- they will most likely meet earlier on Thursdays or another day if Thursday doesn't work. We'll let you know.

4. Publicists will eventually be working with Programmers on organizing these speakers to come to event (we will see about making it public and reserving rooms in which case this is especially essential).

5. Meeting Organizer will continue to write thorough e-mails to you like this and make bad jokes about transportation every Thursday!

6. If you're not an officer, you still can do a lot in the group!!! Bring case-studies, bring ideas, and most importantly, bring yourself (to meetings and the FB group)! Everyone has ample opportunity in UP3 especially once we find a case-study and we work together to explore its different facets and solutions. We need a lot of extra hands so if you want to help with anything extra, just ask.

7. EVENT next Thursday the 18th from 12-1: http://as.tufts.edu/environmentalstudies/events/lunchlearn.htm (Groundwork Somerville). Go if you'd like to tell us about it and help us reach out! (it's the same series of events Lucas went to do today for MA Smart Growth).

Long-term goals: getting recognized, getting funding, collaborating with other organizations, bringing in speakers, traveling and conducting research on a case-study, proposing solutions, presenting what we did together, and of course having fun together in meetings and in the city. We've come so far in only a month and we definitely can do all of this together in the next year, especially with more and more people participating in our meetings! Also - within the next month we should decide on a case-study to focus on, and also either be set on speakers coming or have had speakers come already. And by the end of the semester TCU should recognized us, if not before then.

See you guys next Thursday at 8PM in our cozy Eaton 124 as usual! Please let me know if I am missing something or if you have something to add.

Best,
Rayn
