UNISON has been working with the STUC, SCVO, CCPS and Unite to take
forward the issue of funding for the voluntary sector and improved pay
and conditions for voluntary sector workers.

We have lodge a petition with the Scottish Parliament calling on the
Parliament to urge the Government to support the voluntary sector.

Below is the press release we issued regarding the joint petition,
amongst other places it got a good spread in the Herald (see

You can also sign the petition by visiting

important though that you only sign one petition.

I would ask all in UNISON to please use all your channels to raise as
much awareness about the petition as possible and to maximise the
signatures we collect.

The petition will also be a massive aid to recruiting in the voluntary
sector. Please tell friends and colleagues in the sector about it and
encourage non members to join.

This is a real opportunity to take the situation in the voluntary
sector to the heart of the political debate, but only if we show there
is a mass of concern.
