Following our circular dated 11 November 2005, we are writing to remind
you of the invitation to this year's national seminar for the
community and voluntary sector, to be held on Friday 24 to Saturday 25
March 2006 at Friends Meeting House, 173-177 Euston Road London, NW1
2BJ. Please can you draw this to the attention of members and
activists in your branch - the seminar will be an excellent
opportunity for them to network and discuss a variety of community and
voluntary sector issues.
The seminar will run from 5 pm on Friday 24 to around 4 pm on Saturday
25 March. We have invited Stuart Etherington, chief executive of the
National Council for Voluntary Organisations, as the keynote speaker
for the event and the format will be a mix of workshops and
presentations. The four proposed workshops are:
· Information & Consultation Regulations
· Bargaining for Organising
· Pensions
· Health & Safety
As space at the venue and hotel is limited, places will be allocated on
a "first come first served" basis. Branches are asked to bear in
mind the principles of proportionality and fair representation when
deciding who to send to the seminar.
The cost of the seminar is:
· £120 per delegate in a single room or sharing a double room with
partner (plus travelling costs)
· £100 per delegate sharing a twin bedded room (plus travelling
costs)
The above seminar charge includes the UNISON booking fee, Friday
evening meal at the nearby Euston Thistle Hotel (43 Cardington Street,
London, NW1 2LP), overnight accommodation at the Euston Thistle,
breakfast and Saturday lunch.
Participants can also attend the seminar on a non-residential basis.
The day delegate seminar charge is £60 plus travelling costs, and
includes the UNISON booking fee and Saturday lunch.
For delegates wishing to bring a partner, there is an additional charge
of £20, or £45 if your partner comes to the group dinner on the
Friday. These charges will not be met by UNISON and are payable direct
to the Hotel.
Crèche and facilities for disabled delegates are available upon
request. Please clearly state your requirements when completing the
delegate registration form.
Attached is a registration form to be completed by branch secretaries
on behalf of delegates. This must be returned by Wednesday 25 January
2006 together with the appropriate seminar fee. Cheques should be made
payable to UNISON. Can you please ensure that registration forms are
not forwarded without payment as this can cause delays to the
registering system.
