Hi EGO members,

Our next meeting is set for May 19th, from 6-8pm. I'll be posting the
minutes from this week's meeting here shortly.

EGO Meeting
April 21, 2011

-Dr. Betsy Nies spoke about her fall course and offered help with job-
finding and applications.
-- Possible career workshop? - help with resumes/CVs
-- She offered to put any announcements we need in her department
newsletter (bn...@unf.edu)

-Goals for next graduate conference
1) higher attendance/number of presenters
2) variety of presentations - papers - posters - drama - film (include
students from documentary workshop)
3) call for papers in fall semester, papers due by December 2011
4) food! hype! keynote speaker!
5) Open conference to UNF alumni
6) conference preparation workshops and meetings with assigned
commentators

-- Summer social event, date TBA, Dr. Beechy as guest lecturer

English Graduate Organization
Meeting: Thursday May 19, 2011, 6:00-8:00pm
Minutes

In attendance: Jessica Burris, Kelsi Hasden, Timothy Knickerbocker,
Emily Michael, and Rhonda Ryan

1. Established EGO cabinet for Summer 2011 through Spring 2012:
distribution of responsibilities
--President: Emily Michael
Responsible for all EGO communications, including emails about
upcoming EGO events and maintenance of online EGO portals
Responsible for meeting agendas and minutes
--Vice President: Timothy Knickerbocker
Director of EGO Publicity: responsible for EGO logo, watermark, and
letterhead as well as flyers, event invitations, and programs
--Treasurer: Kelsi Hasden
Club Alliance representative
Responsible for secondary notes at EGO meetings
--Social Coordinator: Jessica Burris
Responsible for booking rooms for EGO events
--Refreshment Coordinator: Rhonda Ryan
Responsible for organizing who will provide food, utensils, and
other necessary items for EGO events and meetings
--We will elect new officers at the end of Spring 2012

2. Priority: Reestablish good standing with Club Alliance so we can
receive funding for Fall/Spring events.
Club Alliance EGO representative must attend 3 consecutive meetings

3. June 23, 2011: Dr. Beechy’s Farewell Lecture
--Building 9, room 1233: we have the room booked from 6:00-10:00pm
--The event will start at 6:30pm, giving us time to set up beforehand
--We have developed a specific trajectory for the event, including
order of activities
--Tim will create an invitation to email to faculty and grad students
--Tim will create a program for the event
--Since the event is only open to English graduate students and
faculty, we will not publicize it other than through email

4. General agreement that we will not have an EGO meeting in June
apart from Dr. Beechy’s lecture

5. Upcoming events
--7/20/2011: July meeting, from 6:00-8:00pm in the Commons of Building

--August meeting
--Early September: Dinner at Dr. Mauro’s house for grad students/
faculty (planned by Dr. Mauro)
--September meeting: possible CV night
--10/31/2011: Literary Costume Ball, from 9:00pm-12:00am
open to English faculty, graduate students, and private guests — no
undergrads!

6. EGO members will promote EGO events in their classes
