This Monday, November the 9th commemorates the 71th anniversary of
Kristallnacht, the “Night of Broken Class.” On this night Nazis
unleashed a wave of pogroms against Germany’s Jews destroying and
damaging thousands of synagogues, Jewish homes, and Jewish businesses.

On this day, 71 years later we "Remember." We Remember the good and
the bad, the young and the old, and most importantly we Remember all
of those who lost their lives fighting for the freedom against the
persecution of individuals embracing Judaism into their lives.

Monday the 9th Hillel, the Jewish organization on campus will be
hosting for the second year in a row a “Remembrance” service. Hank
Broudt, a Holocaust survivor of 5 concentration camps, will be
speaking about his memories and experiences along with questions and
answers; as well as Dr. Kari Schlenes from the UNCG history
department. Please come out and support hank as he gives us reasons to
“Remember” at 7 o’clock in the New Science Building auditorium room
101. We hope that you will also send around this e-mail to all of the
faculty and staff of your department and ask them to publicize it in
their classrooms. There are so many stories to be heard and Holocaust
survivors are decreasing rapidly in numbers. We have an obligation to
get everyone we can to hear their stories before there are no more
survivors left.

We hope to see you there.
Thank you
Hallie Chandler, Hillel participant.

Dresser based on Helen Epstein's collected and published narratives by
children of Holocaust survivors in commemoration of Kristallnacht, The
Night of Broken Glass, considered by many historians to be the
beginning of Hitler's Final Solution.

Pauline Cobrda directs.

The uniqueness of this play is that is gives the audience a glimpse
into a seldom-mentioned aspect of the Holocaust--what it was like to
grow up with Holocaust-survivor parents. The play is suggested for
school and youth groups, students 4th grade and up and all adults.
