Dear Sisters and Friends,

Life’s Blessings be upon you!

The Ecumenical Women’s Forum (EWF) has been leading the efforts for the yearly liturgical celebration of the International Women’s Day (IWD).

Amidst the worsening economic condition and extreme poverty being felt by many of our sisters, mothers, grandmothers and children, women continue to hope and struggle for meaningful changes that will give birth to a society that is humane and just. The ecumenical women have made a commitment to journey with the least of our sisters in their continuing quest for a life of dignity and worth.

This year’s theme for the Ecumenical Women Celebration of International Women’s Day is: “Women Celebrating, Affirming the Continuing Struggle for Life and Human Dignity amidst Crisis and Poverty”. It will be held on March 8, 2012, 8:30AM to 12:00 PM at the Gymnasium of St. Joseph’s College of Quezon City located in E. Rodriguez Avenue, Quezon City.

The liturgical celebration will be made up of Biblico-Theological reflection on the theme, testimonies from women, cultural presentations, and presentation of women’s situation among others.

A croning ritual honoring women 70 years old and above who have been active in ecumenical engagement will be part of this year’s celebration. We are requesting all women’s organizations to forward to us the names of women who will be part of the croning ritual not later than March 3, 2012.

There will be a minimal registration fee of Php 20.00 for those who will attend.

As in the past, we also invite everyone to join the multi-sectoral mobilization that will take place in the afternoon of March 8.

Please invite members of your church women’s organizations/women’s institutions/women’s programs to attend the event. It is our hope that we can gather many women to grace this event as we collectively bear witness to our faith, struggles and commitment to work for just and lasting peace.
