Remember, we use UML for architecture and for procedures and algorithms (any data or signal processing). What do you mean when you say: " Modelling Gully Erosion!  "

Sounds like a domain modeling task?!
UML class diagrams are very well suited to model a domain and derive the
data model needed to handle data for such a domain.

Gully erosion has a significant time dimension to it, so you should
proabbly use Activity Diagrams or State Machines.
