We are proud of our internship program and the students we've helped. Our interns consistently go on to do great things. Several of our earliest interns are now practicing veterinarians (one in Europe!), and many of our more recent interns are attending veterinary schools across the country. Do let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Undergraduate Pre-Veterinary Internship with PGSPCA
The SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George's County (also known as PGSPCA) is now accepting pre-veterinary internship applications for the coming year!! For those looking to improve their animal handling and veterinary assistant skills, as well as learn more about animal welfare, shelter medicine, general pet care, and spay/neuter, this hands-on opportunity is definitely one to consider.
And as PGSPCA volunteers, clinic interns can get free vaccinations and microchips for their pets, plus discounts on veterinary procedures at our clinic. You'll also have the opportunity to get involved with other aspects of the organization if you so choose, such as fostering, animal transport, cruelty/neglect prevention, and humane education.
Please see the attached application package for details. Applications must be submitted to pgs...@gmail.com by Friday, May 10, 2024. You can contact the same e-mail address if you have questions or concerns.
Unsolicited praise from some of our past interns:
“PGSPCA has greatly influenced my career and who I am as a veterinarian. I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunities [the internship] gave me!”
“I am extremely grateful to the [PGSPCA] clinic… I wouldn’t be here in veterinary school without you.”
“My experiences as a PGSPCA intern allowed me to stand out [as a vet school applicant] ... I am grateful for everything you taught me and I’ll be taking those skills with me to study veterinary medicine.”
