Hi everyone! Here is a Vets In the Wild Expedition opportunity! You may have heard about this in past semesters, and expeditions are offered multiple times throughout the year! I am actually supposed to go on an expedition in summer 2024, so if you're interested and able to, contact me if you'd like to join me!

Best,
Georgette

EcoLife Expeditions is a tour operator in South Africa. We offer students hands-on, practical, in-field programs with a focus on wildlife, conservation and animal science and veterinary education and training.

Our Vets-In-The-Wild program is aimed at all students interested in animals science, pre-veterinary and veterinary related study areas. The 3 week program is a practical program moving every few days from one venue to the next. At each venue the aim is to offer you a different experience overseen by a professional in that specific field.

Activities and training will include:

* Wildlife diseases

* Pathology

* Wildlife capture, care and relocation

* Veterinary work on wildlife, domestic and farm animals

* Learning how to shoot with a dart gun – and then shooting a moving target from a helicopter in flight

* Reptile course – inclusive of a snake necropsy

* Visiting the Kruger National Park to view wildlife in their natural habitat

* Lectures on conservation, sustainability and population control

* One-health teachings

We are offering all applicants, applying before December 31 2023 the program at a discounted rate. Our standard rate is US$4980 per person.

The early application rate is US$4550 per person.

We limit each expedition to 12 group members, to allow maximum hands-on experience and one-on-one training. We work on a first come, first serve basis. Should be interested to reserve a provisional seat on one of the expeditions, complete the application form (last page of the attached document) and email it back to me soonest. We do not require immediate payment to hold a provisional seat for you. To confirm your seat on the expedition, you will be required to pay a deposit of US$1300 by end of March 2024.

Please share this email and program with others who might be interested

Do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Natasha Louw
