Hey Guys,

There's a position open for Data Informatics Chair!! Details about the
position is stated below on the forwarded email from the national
board. If you are interested in the position, send me an email with
your name and a sentence or 2 about why you qualify for the role of DI
Chairperson. Note: because of the duties that the position entitles,
the DI Chairperson MUST be committed to coming with the group on this
brigade during the summer. Apply only if you are free to come with us
on the brigade on July 31st-Aug. 6, 2011. See forwarded message
below.

Hi guys,

As I'm sure you are aware, Global Brigades implemented the use of the
Data Informatics System (DIS) on all of our Medical Brigades as of the
beginning of this year. I'm happy to say that our first rounds of
data collection have gone extremely well and we are looking forward to
another great season. Many of our summer communities were visited in
the winter season, so this time around, we will have patient histories
for medical professionals to reference and be able to begin trending
community-specific data.

So what does DIS mean for you as a club president? First off, you'll
need to appoint a Data Informatics Chair from among your brigaders
that will be coming on the trip (or if you would like to do it
yourself, you're more than welcome). The DI Chairperson will be
responsible for the following:
In the US:
-Making sure that your group will be bringing enough computers for the
brigade
-Informing your brigaders and medical professionals that you'll be
using the system on the brigade
In Honduras (because I can't be on all of the brigades at once):
-Setting up the server and the router on the brigade and making sure
equipment is packed up at the end of the day
-Reporting any problems/issues encountered during the day
This person does not need to have any sort of background in computer
science at all as long as they can plug things in and grab the brigade
coordinator's phone to call me in case they run into problems. Other
than that, you won't need to do anything else beforehand. If you
could please forward me your DI Chair's contact information as soon as
possible, that would be greatly appreciated.

Once your group is in-country, there will be a system training session
either the afternoon you arrive or after your tour on the second day
here. At that time, we will go over the specifics on how to access
patient records and enter new information. In the meantime, I've
attached a FAQ with information about what we're doing and why. If
you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks and I look forward to working with you!
