Hi folks,

I have just uploaded a Panoramic Landscape.jpg, a Panoramic
Landscape.mov, and an Exhibit Panorama (virtual representation of an
exhibit I just had in a converted Victorian house) to:

http://groups.google.com/group/UILIST/files

Please let me know if they are working--- and any other comments
appreciated!

Randy

Hi Randy,

I liked the jpg for sure. Your Voyager work is dramatic. I like it. I
like the idea of panoramic but I had to work to see the great
artwork. I would prefer a straight slideshow. :) I know, I'm boring.
Good artwork though!

Cheers,
Susan

Hi Randy,

Nice QTVR landscape. I have put a tutorial on making these from
Voyager onto ShareCG. It describes the settings to remove the
distorted straight up and straight down parts of the image (if you
seek to get rid of them). There are also some of my QTVRs and if you
go back a few pages, you can download Voyager scene files as well.

Hi Randy,

I think it's cool, but the sense of possibly being somewhere else is
interrupted, at least for me, by the red and white striations on the
peaks. But I imagine this planet has more than one sun, and it's
possible they're illuminated that way, or there is some extreme
geology going on there.
I also noticed the maelstrom effect when I panned up and down in the
QTVR, it looks good where the river gets sucked into the center of the
planet.

I did serendigitys tutorial a while back and it was a real time saver
for this type of stuff. It's a great tut worth saving for reference.

Thanks Steve. It is very generous of you to post your tutorial and
Voyager scene files. I'm working through--- and enjoying!--- both as I
explore QTVR.

Thanks for the comments George.

To me the red and white striations suggest tidal lines, or geological
layers exposed by erosion in desert landscapes and other places. The
maelstrom effect is bad technique, which as you point out works in at
least some of the image.

I absolutely agree about Steve's tutorial!

Randy
