Hey EnCo!!

What an amazing week we had last week!! Thank you for all your participation and time! It wouldn't have been so successful without everyone involved. 💚

This week, we will resume our weekly Thursday meeting in room 347 of the IMU from 7-8pm. We will be collaborating with the UI Food Pantry and making reusable t-shirt bags for their clients that shop for goods in the IMU. It will also be Halloween themed with snacks and music so stop by! 🎃🎃🍬

• please bring scissors to the meeting thursday if you can!

October Monthly Challenge: send a picture of yourself to EmmaJean or Kate (in GroupMe) with your homemade eco brick to be put in a drawing for a sustainable prize at our October 30th meeting. This ends on Thursday, get your pictures in!

Upcoming EnCo Events

• Iowa's Dirty Secret Film
• On November 6th at 7pm, instead of going to the IMU for our regular Thursday meeting, EnCo will be attending the screening, Iowa's Dirty Secret: the True Cost of Burning Coal at The Chauncey FilmScene in Iowa City.  
• This is a community event sponsored by the Iowa City Sierra Club emphasizing the detrimental impacts of MidAmerican Energy's 5 coal-burning power plants within Iowa. 
• After the short film, other co sponsors such as the Great Plains Action Society, Iowa Environmental Council, and Sierra Club Beyond Coal Campaign will be leading a panel discussion with the audience. 
• If you are planning to attend, please go to the FilmScene website and reserve a ticket. They are FREE, however you can give an optional donation to the event -- in other words, pay what you can.

Other Things

• School Board and City Council Election Day is Tuesday, November 4th
• If you are currently living in Iowa City (have an address here), then you are eligible to vote in the Johnson County local election next Tuesday! Polls will be open from 7am to 8pm. 
• Every vote counts!
