Hi EnCo!
We have a few super important things coming up this week!
First off, join us at our weekly meeting on Thursday, September 18th, from 7-8pm in room 347 of the IMU. We will be wrapping up details for Oktoberfest and Climate Week. Anyone is welcome!
This week:
- 🍻Oktoberfest is on Saturday!!! Join EnCo on Saturday, September 20th for either the first shift (10:15am - 1pm) or the second shift (12:30pm - 3pm), or both! We will be volunteering to collect cans and other recyclables and taking them to the recycling facility afterwards ♻️. This is a lot of fun!! We will get to eat lunch and enjoy the Iowa City festivities going on.
- Meeting: N Linn St. & E Market St. please arrive at least 10 minutes before your shift starts!
- EnCo still needs at least 1 more person to sign up for the 10:15 - 1pm shift, so if you're free please consider signing up!!
- Wear comfortable clothing, it's going to be warm and we'll be movin.
- Sign up here!!!!
- Climate Over Billionaires Rally -- Thursday, September 18th, 4:30 pm at the Pentacrest
- A protest hosted by the League of Conservation Voters (LCV)
- What? An Iowa representative voted for the Republican Budget Bill that plans to cut Medicaid and Clean Energy funds. This will cut billionaires' taxes instead.
- 3 speakers will attend
- This is a family-friendly event! There will be food and drinks as well. Bring a friend and a poster if you would like.
Next Week:
- Iowa City Climate Fest September 19-25th🌎
- 📖Read Aloud at the River📖, Tuesday, September 23rd from 10 am to 2 pm
- Where? 📍Lagoon Shelter House (on the river)
- What? Cornelia Mutel's essay collection Tending Iowa's Land will be read aloud by various people including the author herself! This event is open to the public, so bring a friend and come in between classes!
- This is an event hosted by the Office of Sustainability and the city of Iowa City. EnCo will be tabling there.
Weekly eco-goal: try using less one-time use items like napkins and paper towels, instead, ever thought of using cloth napkins at meals and old t-shirts as rags when cleaning? It saves you money and limits waste. 💚
Have a great week!
