Hi EnCo!
Today was the first day of the Free Market and we had a ton of cool stuff and a great turn out! Thank you to all those that hung out and volunteered. It was a lot of fun.
Tomorrow, Tuesday the 21st is the second Free Market from 12-5pm at Hubbard Park. We will still be accepting donations! Come check it out. 👕👀🔥♻️
Thursday Meeting
Our meeting this Thursday, October 23rd, will not be in the IMU. Instead, it will be a social event at EmmaJean's house! We will be having a bonfire and hanging out. It is normal time: 7-8pm. If you are interested and want more details, please join this GroupMe: EnCo Bonfire 🔥🌲🪵
Also! Don't forget to send a picture of you and your eco brick to one of the co-presidents before the meeting to be put in a raffle for a sustainable price!!
Upcoming EnCo Events
- Trash Crawl this Sunday, October 26th, 11am-1pm
- meet at Hubbard Park!
- bags and gloves will be provided
- we will split up into 2 groups (1 on the west side, 1 on the east) and pick up trash after the game on Saturday!
- Iowa's Dirty Secret Film
- On November 6th at 7pm, instead of going to the IMU for our regular Thursday meeting, EnCo will be attending the screening, Iowa's Dirty Secret: the True Cost of Burning Coal at The Chauncey FilmScene in Iowa City.
- This is a community event sponsored by the Iowa City Sierra Club emphasizing the detrimental impacts of MidAmerican Energy's 5 coal-burning power plants within Iowa.
- After the short film, other co sponsors such as the Great Plains Action Society, Iowa Environmental Council, and Sierra Club Beyond Coal Campaign will be leading a panel discussion with the audience.
- If you are planning to attend, please go to the FilmScene website and reserve a ticket. They are FREE, however you can give an optional donation to the event -- in other words, pay what you can. Please do this sooner than later so that they know how many EnCo members to expect. Thank you!!
That's all, have a great week!!
