If anyone has worked with tongue thrusts before, can you tell me some good places to find materials on therapy for this? I just got a kid with a tongue thrust and I never dealt with this issue before...

Thanks!

does he have a lisp or just working on swallow part?
dont have any major good info- i just used a mirror and told them to keep their tongue on the bumpy spot-alveolar ridge/or in back of mouth while they swallow and watch with mirror that it doesnt come between teeth
if he is cognitively ok might be able to go that way.
hope this helps.

someone once gave me these goals as well

To improve tongue thrust:

·         Will improve oral sensory awareness

·         Will improve oral resting posture for 5 minutes a day

·         Will perform tongue bowl and tongue cave in 8/10 trials

i once found online these exercises to do with cheerios that they have to hold a cheerio by the alveolar ridge and count to 20 then with closed mouth and then saying tttt 20 times...it really worked for my clients. ill try to find them online
