Greetings all,

Thanks for filling out the survey.  We selected the time that worked for most people (18 out of the 22 people that responded to the survey - sorry to those that can't make it then).  The course will be offered:

Fridays from 2-3:30 in TLS 301

The first class will be next Friday (September 5th).

If you are interested in getting (1) credit for the class, sign up for EEB 5894 section 3

According to the survey, we are pretty evenly split between R-newbies 1 & 2 and R-acquaintances.  Otherwise known as R-experts in progress.

We want the class to be as interactive and hands-on as possible, so we'd like everyone to bring laptops to class (with full batteries!) so you can work through the examples as we talk about them.  If you do not have access to a laptop I'm sure someone will be willing to share (and we will be projecting from our computer to the screen).

If possible, please try to install R on your machine prior to coming to class.  You can find detailed instructions on this at http://cran.r-project.org/  If you have any trouble with this, feel free to contact me prior to class.  You may also want to install a R-enabled text editor (such as Tinn-R for windows or alphaX for Mac), but this is optional for now.

Also, we have a seminar webpage at http://hydrodictyon.eeb.uconn.edu/eebedia/index.php/UConn_UseRs_-_An_introduction_to_R.  We will be posting our presentations and other information there.

See you next week,
Adam & Natalia
