Hi folks,

I'm really looking forward to the final project presentations and
demos. We have a pretty awesome set of projects this year. We also
have more projects than usual, so we'll have to stick to the schedule.

As Matt said, the signup for presentation and demo slots is at
https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0As3W7yfvlzLLdFF2dWc2NFE4Wkh2eV9ESFVtaGliUFE&hl=en&authkey=CJ6igIcL#gid=0

Guidelines for the presentation:
- Time will be tight. Plan on at most 12 minutes of talking to leave
time for some questions. I will have to be pretty brutal about the
clock!
- I'd like to see all the team members participate in the
presentation, though you can allocate the time unevenly if you want.
- Assume your audience knows parallel computing (:-) but does not know
details of your application area. Briefly explain what the problem is
and why it's important in terms a non-expert can understand, but don't
spend time going into a lot of detail.
- Say what the main challenge of your project is, what your approach
is, and what your goals are (including, how big a problem are you
trying to solve, using what hardware and using how much resources?)
- Briefly report your experience and results to date. I expect that
the teams who go on May 25 will have fewer (if any) results to report
than the teams who go on June 1; that's fine!
- Please come for all the talks, and please be willing to stay until
10:45 or 10:50 to leave time for as many questions as possible.

Guidelines for the demo:
- It's up to you what to do for your demo; just try to give everyone
as clear a picture as possible of your project. You don't have to
repeat the background from your talk. You can show us your code
running, sample outputs, performance analysis graphs, interesting
features of the code itself, or whatever. At this time you should
have some near-final results to report.
- We'll try to stick to the schedule, but please choose a time that
will allow you to start late in case we run over.
- Everyone is encouraged to stay and see everyone else's demos.
- If you are unable to make any time on Friday morning, email Matt and
me to make an appointment to demo for us at a different time that
week.

Thanks!

- John
