Hi Everyone,

You may want to stick around in 60 Evans on Wednesday for my
colleague Berndt Sturmfels's MUSA lecture, 4-5PM. His title is "The
Joy of Solving Equations." The URLs http://math.berkeley.edu/
index.php?module=calendar&module=calendar&calendar[view]
=event&id=1723 and http://math.berkeley.edu/~bernd/what-is.pdf are
worth visiting.

By the way, in case you missed this important announcement.... I
revealed in class last Wednesday that I registered for facebook early
last week. Thanks to those of you who added me as friends! I put up
my first album -- a collection of photos of the MUSA dinner that was
held in honor of William Stein. I have other photos that I could put
up, but I'm not sure whether anyone wants to see them and whether
anyone would object to being seen. Most are photos related to
classes that I taught in previous semesters. There are a few that
were taken (by an MUSA officer who borrowed my camera) of the MUSA
"ice cream social" that was held in 1015 Evans on October 25, 2005.
Hey, that was almost a year ago. MUSA: it's time to organize another!

Best,
Ken R

PS: I used courseweb to send out a class e-mail message this
morning. It contains hw7 solutions as an attachment. If you didn't
get the message, let me know.
