Hello, Guild members!
I will be giving a talk on Tuesday, March 1, 5:00 p.m., room 106 O'Brian Hall at University at Buffalo North Campus about the explosion of unconventional natural gas drilling in the Marcellus shale and its impacts on communities. I've focused on land use issues in my research, including the Pittsburgh ban, the Buffalo ban, and traditional zoning approaches, but I will also be providing an overview of the environmental issues and federal legal issues.
Sponsored by UB Lawyers Guild. Refreshments!
The attached flyer shows one of the pictures I've taken - this one is of a 181-year-old family farm that has been growing Christmas trees since 1987. The drilling rig is probably 500' from the house. While it was there, the rig was lit 24x7, was noisy and smelly, and brought lots of truck traffic. Of course this family is on well water.
Thanks!!
