COALITION FOR ECONOMIC JUSTICE
Greetings, 25 years ago, a group of dedicated religious and labor leaders organized a campaign together to stop good manufacturing jobs from being outsourced to Mexico by the Trico corporation. From that initial spark, the Coalition for Economic Justice emerged and has grown into a force in WNY for workers rights, accountable economic development, and quality jobs.
The theme for this year's banquet is 25 Years, 25 Stories. About a month ago, we began a process to gather 25 stories from people who have been a part, in some way, of the work of CEJ since it’s inception in 1986. This process has already begun, and you can read some of these stories on our blog: http://buffalojobswithjustice.blogspot.com With that as a theme, we have chosen our 3 executive directors to be the guest speakers this year. These three women, Joan Malone, Erie County Legislator Maria Whyte, and Allison Duwe embody the passion, leadership, and committment to justice that has given rise to so many victories over the past 25 years! This year's Awards Recipients also exmplify that leadership, and are: The Wisconsin Workers & the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO - Recipients of the Norm Harper Labor Award Duane Diggs, President of VOICE Buffalo -Recipient of the Rev. Bob Beck Faith & Justice Award Sarah Bishop, Executive Director of Buffalo First - Recipient of the Future of Justice Award Click here to order your tickets today! Come out, bring friends and family, and enjoy the company of those who work hard everyday for jobs with justice in Buffalo and Western New York! We hope for an incredible night, with musical entertainment including a live marching band, and a special suprise to be announced during the program! We'll also be unveiling our Brand New Logo! If these reasons alone don't make you want to come, you should know that you'll also be supporting the programming of CEJ, as we work towards another 25 years of bringing economic justice to working families accross Western New York! Tickets are $40 for an individual, or $35 if buying two or more. You can also purchase a limited income ticket at $20. Tickets may be purchased at the door or, preferrably in advance through our secure online server. We can't wait to see you there! In Solidarity, Josh Mumm and the Coalition for Economic Justice staff! |
