Please support the Downing Street Petition against the removal to
storage of the Type Museum archives.

Can all lovers of type and educators of students with an interest in
typography and communication raise awareness of the need to speak up
now before these collections are put further beyond use?

We have heard of no public statement but have been made aware of
references in Internal Documents from the NHMFHLF, NMSI and the V&A
available on the web which seem to indicate the ongoing intention to
remove at least the Monotype Collection to Wroughton - with no clear
indication of the intended future of the sibling collections in
Foundry and Wood Type production etc

For example:
Draft "National Heritage Memorial Fund Heritage Lottery Fund
Meeting of NHMF Board on 22 April 2008 (NHMF 2008 (4) Minutes) under
"9 Operations Report HLF 2008 (4) 9"
Robert Bewley, Director of Operations, presented the report.
The National Museum of Science and Industry (NMSI) were finalising
proposals to remove
their collection from the Type Museum. Full details and proposals
would be presented at
the May 2008 Board."

"V&A Board of Trustees Minutes 22 November 2007 under "Any other
business"
V&A Trustees had been contacted regarding the proposal by the National
Museum of Science and Industry (NMSI) to re-house the Type Museum
collection at Wroughton. V&A Management apologised that no guidance
had been provided to Trustees in advance".
