I would have like to see TC in MYSQL or ProstgreSQL. Having it as a web
client would be nice as it would resolve the multiple user issues but
lets leave that there 4 now.
PostgreSQL, because it is still free, whereas MySql is not, that is 4
pinksoft. We as end-user could run it 4 free.
Just to get back to Judith's remark that "Linux is support heavy." I do
not agree. Linux is build these days so that a home use can take a
install cd and build a full OS with just a few click of the mouse. Yes
building the network, internet, mail etc can be trickier but the
benefits are much grater on the long run. Linux is very stable and we
are running quite a few servers on this OS for months at a time with
limited support.
I think the biggest problem is that TC was build on BORLAND technology
and it is not easy to switch, a full application.
I need to run, to a meeting.

Hi All,
For now, TC 4.0.1.x can handle the multi user,
and webserver support much better than TC 3.7.x.
It's of from The Borland to
Firebird which is all installed in the first standalone installation.
For
installation on a local or webbased server, the fiorebird engine needs to be
installed on the server, and connection clients to it is very easy, by just
entering IP adres of the server.
I for one think that a linux version is
only suitable for Linux users (obviously) and support for Linux, and gaining
knowledge of Linux is a process one needs to want to go into.
I, myself don't
want to even touch Linux, as it will take me quite some time to even get the
first steps of a new OS.
One probably can pop in a cd for a basic
installation of Linux, but hey, don't you want more?
So in order to have
more, you'll need to know more....
And as there are much more Windows users
globally, I think that a Linux version is ok, but absolutly not the definite
road to walk by.

Domé Giuliano
