TurboCASH now available in 17 Languages
Announcing the Release of TurboCASH 3.75, the World's leading Open Source Accounting Package, Philip Copeman, TurboCASH Accounting Project Leader said, "Key feature of this release is our support for 17 Languages. This is in line with our Project Strategy of One program for All Markets".
"In the Accounting market, our commercial competitors have different versions for different countries and even have different brands in different countries. In contrast, TurboCASH is designed from the ground up to be completely flexible. TurboCASH can be translated on the fly and can be adjusted to handle different account codes, tax systems, barcode systems, languages and accounting terminology. Each supported country comes with it's own template configured for those local conditions. One of the most difficult markets to accommodate is the US with over 1000 different tax codes, its like dealing in 50 different countries, TurboCASH can be configured for each State, without the need to pay for annual tax tables."
"Traditionally accounting systems have not traveled well across international borders and have been the last refuge of local developers. We get the same feedback - a local company has cornered the market and has prices starting at around $ 500 to $ 1000 for a multi user version of their package. Most of these competitors sell their packages with some form of annual licence or 'hook' to gough revenue from the users. Users are usually locked into a central call centre. We change all that. The Software is free and users can choose where to purchase their support, if they need it at all. We offer a free forum supported by the community."

Bug fixes and code changes are quickly distributed and in certain parts of the development cycle releases are every few days. This is in an industry where typically releases are annually. TurboCASH is unique in the SME Accounting market in that it is the only mainstream Accounting Package marketed under the GNU GPL. While Open Source is racing through many other markets, Accountants have lagged behind in adoption of the Open Source concept. "What makes us different", said Copeman, "Is that TurboCASH can be downloaded Free off Sourceforge without any strings attached. Users and consultants are free to make and add their own modifications. They can copy, distribute and even sell the software. We include the artwork for packaging. There is no Big Brother looking over their shoulder. There are No Salesmen on an Open Source Project. There are no meetings with guys in suits to discuss licences."
