Anth Collective Minutes from March 8, 2006
1. Anth Prof List
Anth Collective would like to generate a list of Anth Profs at local
universities to potentially ask to speak on panels at Tufts. The
following people will be writing bios of the Anth profs at the
following schools:
Arielle: Brandeis
Molly: MIT
Nancy: Harvard
Sweta: BU
Jim: BC and Northeastern
Jen: Wellesley

Who will do UMASS Boston? UMASS Lowell? Simmons? Suffolk? Emmanuel? It
should only take about 5 mins to do and email to

2. Somali Bantu Tutoring
Collective wants to go to Chelsea to tutor Somali Bantu children who
recently immigrated to the U.S. They are having a difficult time in
school due to language barrier and the minimalist educations they
received prior to immigration. Collective could potentially partner
with Pangea on this project. Come to the next meeting for more information.
3. Computers for Cambodia
This is a subcommittee of Pangea which is looking for help in raising
$10,000 to build a computer center which could educate Cambodians in
computer literacy and help them gain jobs. We will be putting together
information panels/films and an Oxfam fundraiser. Email Constantin at
Constantin....@tufts.edu to get more involved.
4. Greater Boston Anthropology Consortium (GBAC)
Symposium Friday the 10th at Wellesley College at which Arielle Aaronson
will be presenting and has offered to drive other Anth majors. There
will also be a symposium that same night at Tufts in Braker 118
5. Society for Applied Anthropology (SFAA) Conference March 28-April 1st
in Vancouver, Canada. Can look into special funding to send Anth majors.
6. This Wed. go see Bo Kyi March 15. 7pm Cabot 205.
7. We discussed the alumni panel which Arielle is putting together. If
you want to help out, email arielle....@tufts.edu.
8. Local Films--we are still in the works to get funding. If you would
like to help write a proposal, email tufts.anthr...@gmail.com
or caitlin...@tufts.edu
9. We will be holding out 'Choose your Anthro Classes' this semester
March 28th or 29th before registration.
10. WE NEED TO DELIVER ONE LAST BOX TO IRC BEFORE SPRING IS HERE!!
This is very important. Who can go this Friday afternoon before Spring Break?
11. And finally, we would like to have a gathering or party of such.
It would be nice if everyone brought a regional dish of some sort.
Date? Place? I can offer my house if we need a space to get together.
