The search for remnants of The Homeland motley have not been in vain! Over the course of the last two weeks, a number of Changelings have been working to decipher the words of the pledge encoded in the murals of the abandoned YMCA, revealed by Nicholas' Turpentine Touch.

Below follows an overview of the Motley, based on rumor, speculation, the words of their pledge and the resources at their disposal. What remains to be seen is who out there wishes to swear this binding oath, and take up the mantle of the abandoned Motely of active community builders? if you're interested, let myself know. keep in mind that this is the legacy  - What new Changelings make of it is up in the air!

Without further Adieu, The Homeland:

The Homeland
“What was taken from you, Give Freely.”
These lost are those who have, always with reluctance, put aside the pipe dreams of regaining their old lives, of tearing apart the fragile families and relations that revolve around their fetches, and a world that works because of  one lie – That they never left. In place of these fragile dreams, The Homeland have made a choice – Defend and enrich what they cannot have, use their Changeling existence to grant rich, rewarding lives (lacking the horror of the Fae, the Hedge, and The Durance) to mortals around them.

The motley is an old one with rumors that they have existed, in some form, since before the 1905 discovery of the Tasseled Tome. They build themselves into the mortal community and use their Fae talents and knowledge to improve the lives of their chosen mortal neighbors. What they cannot have they give openly, expecting only the admiration and pleasant company of their community. They are careful to do little harm when they harvest, and take offense to other creeds of Changelings messing with their carefully maintained home turf, full of allies and friends.

The Clubhouse
3 Size, 1 Ameneties, 1 Wards
A solid half of a real-world, abandoned YMCA has been rebuilt in the hedge, with a large roll-up door being the archway of choice to access it. There is a small cafeteria which as of now serves fresh water, fruit juice, and non-perishable fare as needed.

The Motley Pledge (The Promise): “Before those who share my trials and my passions, my neighbors who seek to build a fortress of community over risking a house of human cards, I promise to place sad pasts at my back, and rich futures in my sights. Bound to my neighbors Fae and non, tax-time to tax-time, Christmas crush to crush, may my pledge of community service last long as the calender on the wall. What was taken from you, give freely. In exchange I learn the ways of my neighbors, to be known as hero, or confidant. I shall not desert your promises, lest these treasures desert me.”

In game terms, The Motley Pledge is a Vow. It's Task is Greater Alliance (3 pt) (A pledge to aid one another unto even Torture or Death), With the boons of Adroitness (1) granting +1 to a skill, and a medial blessing (2) granting 2 points of mundane merits. The sanction is Poisoning the Boon (Break the pledge, and you take penalties in skills you had a bonus in, and no 10-again in situations covered by lost merits) for the same length of time you benefited. And speaking of Duration, the length of the Motley Pledge is a year and a Day.

There IS a lesser pledge for each Motley, a sort of weaker 'trial period' with a seasonal duration, but only members of the motley can decide what that pledge is and administer it to prospective members.

Adroitness: +1 Persuasion OR +1 Streetwise, for hammering out deals and pushing big projects or walking among your community.

Medial Blessing: +2 Fame OR +2 Contacts. You (your mask at least) is well known among your mortal community, or you have made ties with everyday folk who may pass on useful knowledge from their work or social circles.

Whisper is glad that he helped to track this Motley down. He will
gladly join it. He will take +1 streetwise for the skill (putting him
at 6 dots!), and +2 contacts for the merit (putting him at 5 dots).
To contribute, Whisper will first set out to evaluate the physical
security of the location, noting vulnerabilities and fixing them.
His community outreach will start out by taking on the form of an
early warning system. When a new gang, dangerous criminal,
undesirable business etc. moves in, Whisper will make sure the right
people find out so that the problem can get dealt with.

'Founding members' will get their chance to pledge, perhaps at game. We'll have a Soiree! Or more likely, a neighborhood watch meeting with catering. And sadly, Motley bonuses can't push you over five dots.. Unless you're Wyrd 6 anyway >.>

Allie will definitely join.  She will, of course, be the public face and talk to the community to see what needs and concerns people may have.  Can we take care of the Pledge before the official start of the game or is it set aside for after the main stuff during wrap up?

Elizabeth spent a downtime action dealing with the Motley, so she
definitely will be one of the first in line to join.
As for mechanical stuff, she'll probably take the +1 to streetwise and
the +2 to fame, becoming known around town as the person who can take
a quick look at your sprained wrist or tell you if your baby has the
croup or just a cold.

So, pledging to the Motley.
If there is a scene day in two weeks (fingers crossed!), we'll do it
then. If not, who's pledging for sure and when will we all get
together IC to do it?
