I have 3 ways to use the leaves from your trees for a good cause other
than letting the landscaper haul them away.

Use them for your garden:
Put a thin layer of leaves on your vegetable garden every fall it will
cut back on the amount of weeds you have.

Insulate your plants:
Your tender Mums and if you live in zone 6 or higher you can cover your
cannis and other fair weather bulbs. This will keep the frost from
affecting them.

Compost your leaves:
This will benefit your pile of compost ten fold; be warned that it
takes 2 years for leaves to fully break down into a soil like texture
so add them sparingly but keep them on hand if you can.

Happy Autumn!

Another thing I do is add them to my flower garden too. I have never
used mulch in my flower garden since I built it 2 years ago.
