The best way to keep your tree or trees from being damaged is to put a
ring of mulch around the tree. Generally about 18 to 24 inches.
But those like me who cannot afford that mulch for all of your prized
trees you revert to having the grass grow right up to the tree. Which
can be okay but you have to weedeat around them.
When weedeating you must b very careful of your tree, because if you
hit it to hard you will tear the covering of bark off of the tree and
that will invite bugs and worms to invade the tree. This as you know
will hurt the tree and cause it begin its dyeing process. instead when
weedeating near to any tree keep the head as far away from the trunk as
you can while trimming the grass around it. Also keep the weedeater at
a low speed.
Also be extra careful when you are trimming around small tree because
they are more tender than the older more established trees.
