to Trees_and _Ornamentals
Spring is here and you may want to prune some of your ornamentals.
A lot of people go to the garage and grab the shears. Now there is no
problem with using the shears to trim off some of the growth, but you
must use them sparingly.
Shear damage is one of the main killers of ornaments I run into all
the time.
Someone just hacked into a azelea bush to make it about 18 inches
smaller.
Two things to remember:
Shears are for trimming not reconstructing a shrub or tree.
Shears weather power or hand can only handle certian sized limbs,
useally only 2 inches maximum.
So no only do you damage the plant but you may damage your shears.
Solution, pull out them bypass pruners, lopers and saw and go to it.
Careful don't get to excited.
Have fun out there! I know I am.
