In addition to all the other comments I would recommend you use a 6 point socket, not a 12 point.  They can be hard to find in a regular socket but virtually all impact sockets in that size range will be 6 point so you can get a set of cheap impact sockets from Harbor Freight or equivalent and use them with a 1/2" drive ratchet or flex handle and they will last just fine and the risk of damaging the head of the nut/bolt/plug/zinc whatever you are trying to remove is way less.

The only drawback is that the wall thickness is greater so in some situations you may not be able to get an impact socket on it.

Non-impact duty 6-Point thin-wall sockets are widely available.
