The Ribat Institute, a grassroots charity, is due to host a Summer
Community Fair on Sunday 26th June 2011 within the grounds of the
Bishop David Brown School. Holding this fair will give us a chance to
further promote our community projects and educational programs within
the community thus working towards the vision of giving people a means
for positive engagement in their everyday lives on the individual
level and for the betterment of the local community. Above all such an
event would provide a great opportunity for all ages and all groups
within the community to get together and enjoy a fun day out with
plenty of entertainment and exotic foods.

We have currently confirmed the activities of a bouncy castle,
gladiators, face painting, sports competitions, food stalls, arts and
crafts and a car wash to name a few (see poster), on the site of the
BDB school playground area and the adjacent field. We also have space
allocated to host stalls for local organizations and individuals
within the fair, presenting a unique opportunity to promote local
services, businesses and individuals.

The Ribat Institute would like to invite Transition Woking to setup a
stall and raise awareness of your activities within the local
community.

I've just looked at the application form and realised that it will
cost us £30 for a plot at the fair, if we go ahead with it. Given that
we currently have no funds, what do people think about this? Should
those of us who feel able and willing chip in to raise this sum?

It certainly needs some thinking about.
We have the Byfleet Parish Day coming up here on the 16th July, which would provide another opportunity at an established event - and there are many more in the area, of course. I can't recall the cost of a stall there, but think it's around £15, HOWEVER, and this may be the same for BDB and certainly needs checking, there is a need for Public Liability Insurance. I guess we may be able to do something in conjunction with another organisation, LA21, for example, and piggy back on their insurance, but I feel this is an aspect that needs checking

Kind regards
Jeff
