Hello Everyone,
I'm sorry to bother all of you but I need your help. I am employed
with the state of Louisiana's Office for Citizens with Developmental
Disabilities. My agency received a grant ($42000) last year from the
Developmental Disabilities Council to start a inclusive recreation
league for children with and without disabilities in Ascension parish.
The program was successful in Ascension so the Council gave us $30,000
this year to start two more programs of this kind. We are now working
with our home parish in starting one of the programs there since this
where our offices are located. We have $15000 to use for the program
in our home parish and the city's mayor has promised us $5000 more. We
have two other disability organizations that plan to supply the
manpower (volunteers), one of which is Special Olympics, for our
program. We are facing some obstacles in getting the recreation
department to give us staff support or prioritizing space for the
program. We think the only way to ensure this program's existence
beyond the grant year is to secure more grant monies to establish the
program for the years to come.

Considering this, do you know of any Foundations, etc. who would
welcome grant proposals concerning inclusive recreation programs for
people with and without disabilities? Our searches have come up short
so I was wondering if you knew any organizations.
