Hello Everyone!
This is David here, I'm the video editor of the Shaking Through series and I'm extremely excited about also being this weekend's Recording Workshop Live Stream producer!
This Saturday and Sunday, March 8th & 9th, we're inviting you to experience a very special (and completely free) Live Stream of our next Recording Workshop! From your computer (or smart phone), you can be witness to the entire recording process from recording and tracking to mixing - featuring several of our Recorder's Club members including Mariel Beaumont. You'll be watching alongside hundreds of producers, musicians, technicians, engineers, and music lovers while participating in real time chat!
We'll be using the same fast-paced two-day process as our Shaking Through sessions, making this live stream like an interactive Shaking Through episode, where you can take closer looks and ask any questions along the way. On Day 1 (Saturday) we'll be tracking and recording from 10am to 6pm (EST), followed by a full day of in depth mixing process on Day 2 (Sunday) from 10am to 4pm (EDT). During this time you can ask any questions (in real time!) about techniques used, gear selection, mixing, and any other questions you might have through the live chat portal on the Live Stream site.
You'll see an array of gear we use along with in-depth analysis. Like some new amazing (and affordable!) Fredenstein gear as well as our process of shooting out mics, like the Neumann U-67 and the AEA A440 featured in many Shaking Through episodes. Listen in and see which mic you prefer and share your thoughts through the live chat!
This Live Stream is completely free and is available to everyone while it is happening in real time! After the session is over, an archived video of the entire stream will be available to WV preMIX and Recorder's Club Members to watch anytime. But everyone can tune in this weekend! This Friday I'll send out some simple instructions with a link to where you can watch the entire Live Stream. You can also keep track of future sessions by subscribing to our calendar (instructions and links are below). Don't forget, the best way to keep up to date with our LiveStream sessions is by signing up for Weathervane's Official Live Stream Calender. To be completely in the loop, sign up for SMS updates (see instructions below). You can know exactly what instruments we are tracking, and when.
Join the Weathervane LiveStream Calender:
Select the link above, and click on the [+ Google Calenders] icon on the bottom right. Then follow the instructions below :
Register your mobile phone with Google Calendar
1. Click the gear icon at the top of any page and select Settings from the drop-down menu
2. Click the Mobile Setup tab
3. Select your country from the Country drop-down menu
4. Enter your phone number in the Phone number field
5. Select your carrier from the drop-down menu, if applicable. If you see the link See Help Center for supported providers, please check if your provider is supported before requesting your verification code.
6. If your carrier is supported, click the Send Verification Code button, and you'll get a text message on your phone
7. Once you receive this message, enter the code you received in the Verification code field and click the Finish setup button
8. Click Save
Set up customized SMS notifications
1. Under My Calenders on the left side of Google Calender, place your cursor over the Weathervane LiveStream Schedule calender and click on the pull down tab.
2. Click the Calender Settings tab
3. Click on the Reminders and Notifications tab
4. To the right of Event Reminders click add a reminder
5. Select SMS and select 15 minutes before each event
6. Click Save - You will now be notified 15 minutes before each update!
