1. Beat the Clock: Make a Track in 24 Hours and Win

Ableton has teamed up with SoundCloud and enlisted some of our favorite artists for an exciting contest. From May 14-28, a free Live Pack featuring content by M83, Junior Boys, and Nosaj Thing is available to all Ableton Live 8 users. Your challenge: use the Live Pack to make a new, original track. The catch: you only have 24 hours to create and submit your work. SoundCloud users, a committee of Ableton and SoundCloud staff and the artists themselves will judge the best tracks. Prizes include a trip to Berlin, lifetime upgrades to Ableton Suite, five years of a SoundCloud Pro Plus account and more.

And don't forget: until May 31, all Live 8 users receive five months of SoundCloud Pro for free. This offer is also valid for any upgrade or new purchase of Live 8 or Suite 8. Get Live 8 with free SoundCloud Pro

2. New Partner Instrument: Electric Pianos by Soniccouture

Introducing Electric Pianos, a software instrument consisting of two sampled vintage electric pianos – the Rhodes Stage 73 and the Wurlitzer 200A. The nuanced sounds and dynamics of these legendary keyboards have been perfectly captured by Soniccouture, with every key recorded at many velocity levels for a total of nearly 3 GB of samples. Built for perfect integration in Ableton Live, this instrument’s 70 Rack presets provide many classic electric piano sounds and include controls for effects, dynamics and EQ settings. 13 Simpler presets for building your own custom instrument are also included.

3. Ableton Artists: Monolake and Mouse on Mars

Monolake: Ghosts In The Machine

Check out our exclusive interview with Robert Henke (Monolake). Robert talks about the creation of his new album Ghosts, and with his usual insight, delves deep into the topics of sound design, mixing in and out of the box, performing live in surround sound and much more.

Mouse on Mars: Live for All

With their brilliant combination of experimental and melodic elements, German electronic musicians Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner reinvent their trademark sound with every album. For the tour supporting their latest release, Parastrophics, Ableton Live plays a central role for both the music and visuals. The result is a spirited, thrilling performance that leaves plenty of room for improvisation.
