Hi all,

On Wednesday December 28 fellow harm reduction advocate and worker Gerry Leslie passed away from end stage liver disease. He was also an advocate around issues related to poverty, homelessness and access to health care. Gerry was the first community liaison worker at St. Michael’s Hospital.  Gerry also worked at Street Health, Fred Victor, and Queen West CHC in Toronto. He died peacefully and surrounded by love. His funeral is this Thursday at 1pm at Rosar Morrison at 467 Sherbourne St.

Subject: Remembering Gerry Leslie

Hello Everyone,

Gerry passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 28th.

He was held by loved ones. His last words were "I love you" as he opened his eyes and his arms toward the ceiling. I like to think that those words were for all of us here on earth as well as for those who were welcoming him on the other side.

Gerry died peacefully, loved and loving.

Gerry lived fully and he just as fully embraced his last adventure. He was well taken care of medically by his palliative team, he loved his nurse. He had remarkably positive attitude. His chuckles will be so missed.

Gerry was at peace with his dying. He was ready. On Monday he said he "...had two days left in him..." And so he did. He died one and a half hour off of his prediction.

He loved so many of you with full heart.

Please join us to remember and celebrate Gerry.

Please share this posting widely. I only have a small fraction of contacts. Gerry knew and touched so many people from many different worlds.

I hope that everyone who knew him will be informed of his passing and his memorial in time to participate if they are able.

I wish you all fulfilling and peaceful 2017

"Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday…Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear."
