Has this come across anybody else's radar this month?

This looks interesting, though I almost feel like google's already
given up on Wave. It seemed to come out to a lot of fanfare then
Google lost interest in it. They seem to be focusing on Chrome OS,
Android, Buzz etc. As soon as they introduced Email notification it
stopped making sense to me. I thought the idea was that email was
broken.

That said, I may try hacking at the Java api. Not sure what I'd want
it to do because no one I know uses Wave. Add me if you'd like

Good ideas Pete...

We've definitely seen Wave move to the back burner. I don't think
Google was expecting the social media craze to pick up as fast as it
did. Both Google and Apple have waiting quite a long time before
announcing any plans. It looks as though they were forced to release a
piece of the puzzle; Buzz. It will be interesting to see what the
Google code heads have dreamed up for us this year at I/O. My
predictions? Platform integration. I think Buzz, Wave and Apps will
slowly start to see integration amongst the Android OS and Chrome OS.
I could be wrong but from my standpoint it only makes sense. Google
keeps thinking 5 years down the road.

Was that an official prediction? :-S...

Email updates... yeah good call. While the rest of the world sticks to
the gmail platform we need something to remind us that Wave still
exists.

Thanks for sharing the linked article Dustin! And thanks Pete for sharing your Google Wave address - I just added you :). All are welcome to add me too: marti...@googlewave.com.

Thought to share with all of you a few helpful Google Wave links:  http://completewaveguide.com/

Google may have learned a thing or two from Gmail's development & market release. Just guessing here…perhaps Google wished to push the development of Wave, secure the top developer talent and outflank the competition via a premature launch at I/O 2009? What does Toronto-GTUG think??

Google I/O 2010 Predictions:

A very fun idea Dustin! I'd love for Google to announce expanded Google Maps functionality (…say with Augmented Reality technology), big news for Android OS, Chrome OS, Buzz/Wave, Google Apps Marketplace and perhaps even the release of a competing iPad-like device. Google may be ready to offer developers a monetization platform to rival Apple's iPhone and iPad one-two punch! Buzz may be Google's attempt to help transition the average/youthful user into the presently complex Wave environment.

I'm looking forward to meeting up with as many Canadians as possible at I/O 2010 - please let me know if you, or someone you know plan to attend!

Happy Waving!

Martin
