Greetings from Tonto

Lots of news and dates for your diary to cover this month, so let's
not hang about:

*The Burglar's Dog is back!*
*Durham Literary Festival and Johnny Lonely signings*
*Jonny Kennedy and The Rocketbelt Caper*
*Non fiction submissions invited*
*Anyone lost a jacket?!*

*The Burglar's Dog is back!*
Yes, the Burglar's Dog is back, and he's just as angry and rude as he
was the last time. The brand new revised and updated edition of The
Burglar's Dog Alternative Guide to Drinking in Newcastle upon Tyne is
released on 15 October, but you can pre-order your copy now, and if
you pre-order from amazon.co.uk following the instructions on our
website we'll send you a brand new set of four exclusive Burglar's Dog
pin badges absolutely free. You'll also be helping to push the
Burglar's Dog towards being an amazon bestseller! The new edition of
the North East publishing phenomenon of last year has been completely
updated and revised, with new pubs and features. You can read more
about the book, and the badge giveaway, from the following links:

*Durham Literary Festival and Johnny Lonely signings*
Tonto authors Pete Tanton (Johnny Lonely), Roz Wyllie, Stephen Shieber
and Katie-Ellen Hazeldine (all More Tonto Short Stories) will open
this year's Durham Literature Festival at the Gala Studio, Durham on
Saturday 29 September at 2pm. The 'Pete Tanton and Friends' event will
see all four authors introduce and read from their work, and there
will be an opportunity to meet them and have books signed. Tickets are
£6 (or £5 concessions). (Ticket prices cover the festival organisers'
costs, and Tonto would like to make it clear that no payment is being
taken by the authors (nor the publishers) from this event.) Several of
the Tonto authors will also be taking the time to visit Low Newton
Prison as part of the 'LitFest Inside' programme. Other highlights of
the Durham Literature Festival include appearances from Will Self, AS
Byatt and Roger McGough. You can find out more about the festival and
book tickets for the opening event via the following links:

*Jonny Kennedy and The Rocketbelt Caper*
Two of our forthcoming non fiction titles are being printed at the
moment. Jonny Kennedy: The Story of the Boy Whose Skin Fell Off and
The Rocketbelt Caper: A True Tale of Invention, Obsession and Murder
are both being printed by Athenaeum Press in Gateshead, highlighting
our desires to work with local companies and strive for a top quality
end product. Both will be printed to a high specification, and will be
the first Tonto titles to feature 'spot UV' (which is a posh way of
saying the lettering will be all shiny). Both titles are generating a
lot of pre-publication interest. Jonny Kennedy is the moving, honest
and uplifting story of the star of the unforgettable documentary The
Boy Whose Skin Fell Off, and The Rocketbelt Caper is the incredible
true story of the Rocketbelt 2000 murder. You can find more about both
books on our website, and there are videos and other content on our
blog.

*Non fiction submissions invited*
Could you write the next Burglar's Dog, Jonny Kennedy or Rocketbelt
Caper? We're looking for good marketable non-fiction titles for
publication. Interested writers should send a brief outline via email,
and also tell us a little about themselves. Please do not send
manuscripts - if we would like to see more we will let you know.
Please not that we are not currently accepting fiction submissions,
although we hope to do so in the near future.

*Anyone lost a jacket?!*
Did you attend the Johnny Lonely launch event here at Brick Works? Did
you leave a black zip-up woman's (or very small man's) jacket next to
the buffet table? If so, please email us to arrange to come and pick
it up!

That's all for now, we'll be back in a few weeks with news of launch
events for The Rocketbelt Caper and Jonny Kennedy (pencilled in for
Thursday 6 September and Wednesday 27th September respectively), and
no doubt lots of other thrilling news for your eager perusal...

Best wishes

Paul & Stu
