LAUNCH
It has been a busy time for Tonto Books.
Two new novels 9987 by Nik Jones and Make It Back by Sarah Shaw were
launched last month in Newcastle upon Tyne. There was a great
atmosphere on the night and loads of people turned up to the event.
AUTHOR EVENTS
Sarah and Nik have been doing author events in the region:
1 Feb - Nik Jones at Borders Silverlink
7 Feb Sarah Shaw at Borders Team Valley
Next events:
8 Feb Nik Jones at Borders Team Valley, 12pm
14 Feb Sarah Shaw at Borders Silverlink, 12,pm
More events booked for Nik and Sarah in March and April will be in the
next newsletter.
Ashley Hames will be holding one of his legendary Sin Cities author
events on Friday 20 Feb at Borders, Charing Cross, from 6.30pm. The
event promises to be adult themed and will have you laughing all the
way to the nearest bar afterwards to buy him a drink.
Rosalind Wyllie and Stephen Shieber will be back on the author event
circuit next month too. In fact... so will I. More info to come.
NEW TITLES
Three new titles have been signed to Tonto Books in the past month,
with another high profile biography in negotiation.
The biography of Charlie Walduck will be the first of these new
releases in October:

And as many of you saw, I was on Look North news with another signing,
Raymond Scott, whose book 'Shakespeare And Love' will be published in
2010.
WEBSITE
The website is currently being redesigned, revamped and updated. It
will go live as soon as all the content is in place and will focus on
the fiction and non-fiction elements to Tonto. This will hopefully all
happen in March with many new features and opportunities to get
involved.
BLOG
Please visit the BLOG for Tonto updates. As the website is not
something I maintain personally, the blog will be my way of updating
you on current news.
At the moment, I am running a fiction promotion on there. Each of the
four fiction titles we published in 2008-9 are up there to be voted on
for the one you'd like to see available as a free e-book in March. In
addition to this, the winning novel will be on sale at half price
during the promotion month. A pdf intro chapter of each book is
available at the usual email address by putting the title of the book
with 'promo' in the title.
NEWSLETTER
With the new website will be a slightly different newsletter. Rather
than just being Tonto news, I'd like to support and include other
relevant news on writing and writers, services, adverts,
opportunities... depending on what comes in and if fit for inclusion.
There will be opportunities to sponsor the newsletter and info will be
released soon.
SUGGESTIONS
Any suggestions for web content, etc you have - please feel free to
drop me a line. A few writers have been in touch about opportunities
to 'sell their wares' on the website and I'm busy drawing up plans for
this to be possible. It may be that you are interested in one of the
Tonto writing courses we ran in the past, or are looking for advice.
And before you ask... submission windows for fiction are still under
review. Tonto simply can't publish fiction all the time, but is
planning to so something fictiony this year. It will be made clear
when that will be with plenty of notice.
I think that's all for now, folks.
