Believe it or not, we're already thinking about Christmas at Tonto
Towers, and our latest seasonal release, the revised and updated
edition of The Burglar's Dog, is out on Monday. We've also been
updating our website - let us know what you think of it.

*The Burglar's Dog is back!*
Yes, the Burglar's Dog this Monday 15th October, with a completely
revised and updated edition of his cult pub guide, the Alternative
Guide to Drinking in Newcastle upon Tyne. The new edition contains up
to 33.3% brand new material: MORE new pubs; LESS old pubs; NEW
features; SAME old Burglar's Dog. Expect to see plenty of local media
coverage (although not on the days that lengthy negotiations promised,
but that's another story...) and features in Viz comic and CityLife,
plus more to follow. Early purchasers can get a free set of four
Burglar's Dog badges - we've extended this offer until 22 October:

*Durham Lit Fest report*
Tonto writers Pete Tanton, Katie-Ellen Hazeldine, Stephen Shieber and
Roz Wyllie headlined the opening event at the 17th Durham Literature
Festival on Saturday. Pete read from his novel Johnny Lonely, and
Katie-Ellen, Stephen and Roz read stories from their acclaimed More
Tonto Short Stories collection. All did a great job, engaging and
captivating those present. The writers then signed copies of the books
for audience members. Thanks to all four writers, and to everyone who
came along, some of whom had travelled long distances to be there.
There are photos from the event on our blog:

*Jonny Kennedy book launch report*
Model and TV presenter Nell McAndrew joined us at Asda's Gateshead
store a couple fo weeks ago to help launch the book about her friend
Jonny Kennedy, which she contributed a foreword to. Author Roger
Stutter and Jonny's mam Edna Kennedy were also present, along with
many friends and supporters of the Jonny Kennedy North East (JKNE)
charity - and a room full of press reporters. When not surrounded by
TV and newspaper cameras and radio microphones, Nell and Roger signed
copies of the book for shoppers, and collected donations for the JKNE
charity. Asda stores across the North East are donating £1 from every
copy sold to JKNE. (Unfortunately, as soon as we left the Gateshead
store their stock of books was put in the back of the store, which was
a shame considering Nell's efforts and the blanket local coverage the
event received, but that's retail for you...) There is TV, radio and
newspaper coverage of the launch on the blog:

*Pete Tanton Durham signing*
Fresh from opening the Durham Lit Fest, Pete Tanton will be back in
Durham tomorrow (Saturday 13th October) to sign copies of Johnny
Lonely at the city's Waterstones from 12.30pm (69 Saddler St, Durham,
0191 383 1488). On Sunday, Pete and fellow Tonto scribe Roz Wyllie
will be visiting HMP Low Newton as part of the Lit Fest Inside
programme of literature workshops within the prison.

*New-look website and special offers*
The Tonto website has undergone a slight redesign over the past week
or so. The homepage has more news stories and a new feed from this
blog, and there are now dedicated pages for writers, trade and press.
The page for writers has some general advice for writers looking to
submit to publishers or agents, and we'll be expanding this in the
near future. Check it out here and let us know what you think. To
celebrate the website's redesign we've added a couple of special
offers - you can now get £2 off More Tonto Short Stories and £3 off
Wor Al. And don't forget that extended Burglar's Dog badges offer,
too.

Hope you find something in the above that floats your boat. Happy
