American Banjo Camp is delighted to announce that our preliminary
schedule is now available for viewing on our website, http://americanbanjocamp.com.
We think of this as banjoists' paradise, but we urge you to check it
out and see for yourself.

Time and Place: The dates are Sept. 11-13, 2009 and the place is Fort
Flagler State Park, in Nordland, Washington. American Banjo Camp
offers a weekend of intense instruction with some of the best old-time
and bluegrass banjo players around, plus demonstrations, concerts, and
plenty of jamming opportunities.

Staff: We're very proud to announce our staff of all-stars.

Bluegrass Instructors:

Danny Barnes (Washington State) - Has turned bluegrass banjo into a
solo art.
Janet Beazley (California) - Great player and vocalist, super teacher
Pat Cloud (California) - Jazz banjo guru
Bill Keith (New York) - Creator of melodic style
Alan Munde (Texas) - Legendary picker and innovator

Old-time Instructors:

Kathy Barton Para (Missouri) - A terrific player and singer; she wowed
everyone at ABC last year.
Mac Benford (New York State) - Genial clawhammer innovator and great
all-around teacher! Formerly banjoist for famed Highwoods String Band.
Adam Hurt (North Carolina) - brilliant young clawhammer phenom
Brad Leftwich (Indiana) - Expert on Round Peak style (and a great
fiddler, too!)
Ken Perlman (Indiana) - Pioneer of melodic clawhammer

Novice Program: Mike Stahlman from Portland heads up the bluegrass-
novice program; Laura Smith of Bellingham heads up the old-time novice
program.

Accompanists: Greg & Jere Canote (old-time fiddle and guitar), Paul
Elliott (bluegrass fiddle), and Peter Langston (bluegrass guitar,
mandolin and dobro). All our accompanists are from the Seattle area.

ABC Fiddle Program.
We have established a full time fiddle program at ABC for this year's
camp (in other words there will be one fiddle option during each and
every class session). Details are now incorporated in the preliminary
schedule.

The ABC Extra Day.
By popular demand, we have decided to increase the length of Camp by
an optional day. Our optional Extra Day gives students a chance to get
to know each other and the staff, and to ease their way into the
regular Camp with a bunch of low pressure activities in a relaxed
atmosphere. Here's how it will work. On Thursday evening Sept. 10 we
will have a mini-orientation and social mixer followed by a few
faculty-led jam sessions. On Friday morning we'll schedule round-robin
demonstrations, "clinics" on banjo technique and set-up, Q & A
sessions, and perhaps a crash course for total beginners. There will
be a small extra tuition charge for students who wish to take part in
the Extra Day, which also covers the cost of lodging and meals (dinner
on Thursday through lunch on Friday).

You can access instructor bios, logistical information, and the ABC
registration form on our website, http://americanbanjocamp.com. If you
have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to email us at
in...@americanbanjocamp.com.
