I am sorry to have been sooooo absent for soooooooo long. My life has
been beyond crazy for some months and it has gotten even worse as of
late.
For those who may have heard a bit, on top of a broken foot, loosing
my retail operations director and moving my mother in from St. Louis,
we had a very serious storm at Antietam about a month ago. Over 100
trees were lost at the battlefield, the roads in and out of Boonsboro
were shut down for more than 24 hours due to downed tress and power
lines and the Park Service had to chainsaw their way into the Pry
property to get our visitors out. The house and barn did sustain
damage and we lost 7 historic trees on the site! We are still
cleaning up and house will have scafolding up until the September
event.
The good news is that we are still plainning the AEBG for the
Anniversary Weekend in Sept.
I have sent an e-mail to Bob Carlin to confirm his participation, we
already have a bones demonstation lined up, we will have the usual
concert and contest and we will have a workshop on period set-up and
simple repais on period banjo repros. I am still looking to fill a
few spots if anyone wishes to step forward. With recent postings we
may want to have a panel on authenticity pro and con - (what is
reasonable and what is important). Greg Adams is reaching out as well
and he and I will be in touch when he returns from Africa.
I will post more next week. Just wanted to get the ball rolling
again.

Thank you, George! Been wondering where you've been.
Sorry to hear about all the damage, etc. We lost a medium-sized tree
(and the section of fence it fell on) to that same system, I believe.
What sort of spots are you wanting to fill?

Great to hear from you, George! I know those planning on attending
let out a sigh of relief when we got to the end of your post. I hope
your foot has healed satisfactoraily and life with a live-in mother is
bearable. I'll be glad to furnish a couple of bottles of single-malt
scotch at the Gathering to ease any lingering discomfort you may
have. ;^}
I have been preparing a Frank Converse bio to submit to Wikipedia and
if you need presenters I could give a talk on the life and times of
FBC.
Other than that, I plan on enjoying the banjo event of the century.
I can't wait for everyone to meet and jam with Scott Miller on the
bones. The cat is a real gas.
8 weeks and counting!!!
