I have worn through the finish on the fingerboard in the 1st &2nd
positions. The handle and fingerboard are maple, the stain is water-
based, and the finish is tung oil. Is is necessary to reapply the
finish? I do not care about the missing stain as it is minor. Can I
just pull the strings and reapply? Is the preparation more complex?
