Dear Marion,
Meyli likely had a home and a family who loved her—until she was snatched off a street in China, crammed into a truck, and taken to a dog slaughterhouse.
Imagine the fear and confusion she felt as workers prodded her across a cement floor slick with blood and strewn with the bodies of dead dogs. Then came the blinding pain as they bashed her head with a wooden club. Finally, the slice of a knife across her throat, leaving her alive and gasping for air before they peeled off her skin.

PETA blew the lid off the dog skin trade, prompting countless consumers to reject products made with any animal’s skin and inspiring members of Congress to strengthen enforcement against the importation of dog skin. We’ve also sparked a revolution in the clothing industry by pushing major brands to embrace animal-free designs.

Your support can help end this barbaric trade as we urge more companies, designers, and shoppers to choose cruelty-free—so no animal is tortured and killed for a handbag or shoes.

Kind regards,
Tracy Reiman President

P.S. As a dog lover, I’ll never forget the screams of the terrified dogs being led to their deaths in that slaughterhouse in China. It’s heartbreaking to know it may be happening right now. Please join PETA today to help end it.

We’ve set a deadline of June 30 to raise $250,000 through the “Save Our Skin” Matching-Gift Challenge. Gifts made after that date or after our goal has been met will not be matched, but they’ll still make a tremendous difference in our work to save animals from the global clothing industry and promote vegan fashion.
