Hi,

I'm a TW user for some time now but don't keep track with the mailinglists a
lot. I do use my TW a lot and update it time by time.

As I don't follow the lists closely I am not aware of when a new version is
out. Many projects have an announce list for that which is very handy IMHO. A
list where you get informed about new versions (update-procedures / -changes)
and perhaps major changes (or even security issues - if they arise).

Is any of that in the plans already? I - and I think a lot of other people
would be happy if there would be a was to get announced when new versions
arrive. An RSS feed would be sufficient as well I'd say.

thanks for all the good work,

Tom

I agree; that could be very useful.

If there were tag-based RSS feeds - which, if I am not mistaken, is in
the works - TiddlyWiki.com could simply add announcement tiddlers, tag
them accordingly and publish the RSS feed.

In the mean time: TiddlyWiki.com/announcement.html could have all the
announcements on it. Also gives us a place to consult for the history
of something.

That would be this page:
http://trac.tiddlywiki.org/wiki/History
I've created a feed from this:
http://feed43.com/6407650213148253.xml
The pattern definitions can be seen (and modified) here:
http://feed43.com/feed.html?name=6407650213148253

HTH.

Yes, but I was thinking more along the lines of history of plugin
upgrades, themes, maybe even when TW stuff gets media coverage. An all
TW all the time type announce site. Micro information in the best
little micro content container.

Yes, this is what we do here on GoogleGroups, but things quickly get
lost in the daily shuffle and request for info on making the font big
& blue. If you are a new or occasional reader many things go right on
by unnoticed due to low responses to the post, like your own
TagComboMacro.

Then again, maybe I am just the person to try and keep this list. I
can't write code, but this might be something I can do.

As requested by FND in the TiddlyWiki group:

"The feed mentioned above results in an error so I started from
scratch: http://feed43.com/tiddlywikirevisionhistory.xml"

Hi Tom,
There is now a TiddlyWiki Announcements group (http://
groups.google.com/group/tiddlywiki-announcements)

The only postings will cover:
* updates to the TW core
* updated and new plugins
* updates and new TW varients (Like TiddlySnip, d3, MPGTD, CCTiddly
and TiddlyStiky)

Goal is to keep the signal to noise ratio as low as possible.

This might a good place to mention this:
http://blog.deuceofalltrades.com/search/label/WHitWoT

An excerpt:

Welcome to the first edition of "What Happened in the World of TiddlyWiki", or WHitWoT for short.

My plan is to summarise what's happened lately on the TiddlyWiki mailing list and elsewhere in the TiddlyWiki world.

I'd like to make a couple of suggestions here:

1) The TiddlyWiki community makes good use of del.icio.us. Maybe
repurposing this for plugin announcements would work.

2) We could adopt a "trackback ping" type model. Plugin authors could
ping a centralized service when they have updates. New users would be
taught to go to that central location for update notifications. No
thoughts on who would create/maintain this service though. I would be
willing to consider helping out if this was perceived as generally
useful.

3) Firefox's plugin architecture is incredibly useful. Not sure about
the internals though, but it's a good model for other projects to
follow.

Excuse any naivete on my part, just starting to get involved in the
development community for TiddlyWiki.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the work. I'm subscribed and the type of announcements
I'm getting is exactly what I was looking for.

thanks again,
